Overview
4 day Trek Choquequirao is a beautiful and amazing route to one of the last refuges of the Inca. It is a marvel of the Andes that because of the rich history held within in its architecture is attracting an ever-increasing flow of tourists.
Itinerary
Itinerary Choquequirao Trek 4 Days
Day 1: Cusco – Cachora – Chiquisca – Santa Rosa
Our adventure begins with a pickup at the hotel in Cusco, then boarding a bus for Cachora, where we will meet with the rest of our Choquequirao Travel team, horsemen, cooks and horses. From this point we begin our walk through a beautiful Andean landscape, with great views of the Padreyoc and Wayna Cachora mountains.
We will have an impressive view of the Apurimac valley from the viewing point at Capuliyoc and then continue our trek until we get to Chiquisca, then continue our trek, descending to Playa Rosalina (1550m), the lowest point of the trip.
From there we cross the Apurimac river over a suspension bridge to then begin our ascent towards Choquequirao, but first stopping by Santa Rosa (2100m), which will be the place of our first camp (lunch and dinner).
Day 2: Santa Rosa – Marampata – Choquequirao
On this day we have breakfast very early and then continue our trek, Santa Rosa (2100m), It is a place where we will be able to enjoy the famous drink made from sugar cane, called Cambrai. We will then follow our route toward Marampata, a small typical village of the Andes, from which point we can make out the great Inca city of Choquequirao.
We head for the amazing Inca city of Choquequirao, where we will have a guided tour around the different important tourist attractions.We will have our second camp here. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner).
Day 3: Choquequirao – Playa Rosalina – Chiquisqa
After a good breakfast We return to Marapata where we will have our lunch, before continuing to Playa Rosalina where we will take a short break and then on to Chiquisca where we will make our last camp (Breakfast, lunch and dinner).
Day 4: Chiquisqa – Capuliyoc – Cachora – Cusco
After a delicious breakfast we begin our return walk to the Capuliyoc pass were will have a view for the last time of the beautiful Apurimac canyon and then a further 2 hours walking until we arrive at San Pedro de Cachora.
Here we say goodbye to our horsemen that have accompanied us on this wonderful adventure. We then board our transport, arriving back at Cusco in the afternoon. Our services end here. (Breakfast and lunch).
